Tropical Cyclone Pam made landfall in Vanuatu, on Friday 13 March 2015, with Category 5 strength – the highest level rating for a severe tropical cyclone. An estimated 188,000 people (half of Vanuatu’s population) were affected across all 6 provinces (Shefa, Tafea, Malampa, Penama, Sanma and Torba), including significant destruction in the national capital Port Vila.
